Integrate MyDesign® with Blackboard
This article describes how to integrate MyDesign with Blackboard Learn. You will learn how to add MyDesign as an LTI tool provider, create a placement for the tool, and add it to a course. You will also learn how to launch the tool and where to find further documentation.
These instructions use screenshots from Blackboard Learn Ultra.
Register MyDesign as an LTI Tool Provider
The first step is to register MyDesign as an LTI 1.3/Advantage tool provider within Blackboard.
- Open the Blackboard Administrator Panel.
- Navigate to Integrations > LTI Tool Providers > Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool.
- Enter the Client ID. This will be provided to you by the e4usa MyDesign team.
- Press Submit.
- In the Accept LTI 1.3 Tool form, configure these tool settings:
- Tool Status: Approved
- User Fields to Send: Role in Course and Name should be checked.
- Allow grade service access: Yes
- Allow Membership Service Access: Yes

- Press Submit.
Create a MyDesign Placement within Blackboard
The next step is to create a placement for MyDesign within Blackboard. While still in the LTI Tool Providers page within the Blackboard Administrator Panel:
- Hover over the MyDesign entry in the LTI tool provider list and then open the options menu.
- Choose Manage Placements from the options menu.
- Select Create Placement.
- Enter a label, description, and handle for the placement.
- For Type, choose Course content tool, and check Allows grading.
- Enter https://mydesign.e4usa.org/api/lti/login/open_id for the Target Link URI.


- Press Submit.
Adding MyDesign to a Course
You are now ready to add MyDesign as a course content tool. This task can be performed by a Blackboard administrator or a teacher.
- Open the Blackboard course page.
In the Course Content section, press the '+' button.
Course Content Menu - Select Content Market.
- You should see e4usa MyDesign listed as an available tool. Press the '+' button in the lower-right corner to add MyDesign to your course.

- You will now see e4usa MyDesign listed in the Course Content section of the course page.
- Set the tool visibility to Visible to students.

Launching MyDesign
To open MyDesign, select the e4usa MyDesign link in the Course Content section.
