MyDesign® for Schools FAQ

Thanks for your interest in Engineering For Us All (e4usa)'s MyDesign® learning platform.

Please find below answers to questions about our MyDesign® platform that schools commonly ask.

Does MyDesign® support single sign on (SSO)?

The standalone version of MyDesign® does not support single sign on at this time. The LMS version of MyDesign authenticates students through your institution’s learning management system. If you have an LMS and it utilizes your institution’s SSO, we recommend you implement the LMS version of MyDesign®.

What platforms does MyDesign® run on?

MyDesign® is web-based software and as a result is platform agnostic. MyDesign® will run on any platform with a modern web browser. We support the latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and the latest chromium-based version of Microsoft Edge. Previous versions of Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer are not supported.

What Learning Management Systems does MyDesign® have the ability to integrate with?

Below, please find a table of learning management systems and whether MyDesign® currently supports them. If your learning management system is not listed, please email info@e4usa.org so we can assess how we may be able to support it in the future.

*Google Classroom does not support the LTI standard published by IMS Global that MyDesign uses to establish integration points. We have assessed building a custom integration but due to the high development effort have not yet decided to move forward with this feature.

Does any software need to be installed on local machines?

No, MyDesign® is entirely web-based software.

We have a firewall / web filter, what domains / IP addresses need to be whitelisted for MyDesign® to function correctly?

If your institution maintains a firewall or web filter, please ensure these domains / IPs are whitelisted to allow MyDesign® to operate correctly.

Will a license need to be installed or applied?

No, your MyDesign® license will be assigned by our team to your tenant in our platform.

What, if any, third party software is required for MyDesign® to function correctly?

MyDesign® does not require any additional third party software for current functionality.

Do you have system requirements for MyDesign®?

MyDesign® will operate on any computer with a web browser.

We have found a computer with at least 4GB of RAM, an Intel i5 or equivalent CPU, and at least 128GB of disk space ensures the best experience.

What network bandwidth is required?

We recommend internet speeds of at least 20 mbp/s to ensure the best experience for end users. MyDesign® will function on bandwidth greater than 128kbp/s, although the experience may be poor.

What data do you collect on students and how is it used?

MyDesign® LMS (LTI-integrated)

We do not collect or store student data. Data displayed in the MyDesign interface is displayed in real-time directly from your institution’s learning management system.

MyDesign® Standalone

We collect common data fields such as the student’s name and email address to personalize their experience on the MyDesign® platform. Additional data fields such as gender, race, and ethnicity are collected and shared in anonymized, aggregate form with Engineering For Us All (e4usa) researchers as defined in our EULA. This data helps us understand the impact of EDPPSR and MyDesign® on learning outcomes.

What data do you collect on adults and how is it used?

We collect the same data on adults as we collect on students. Please see the above table for specific data fields and their use.

Do you have a security certification?

MyDesign® is hosted in a SOC 3-compliant cloud environment within Amazon Web Services in which best practices such as least privileged access, encryption both in transit and at rest, and role-based access control are implemented. Engineering For Us All (e4usa) is currently in the review period for an independent SOC 2 Type 2 certification for our organization with an estimated completion of Q3 2025.

Will you use data collected from the platform for research purposes?

Data collected from the MyDesign® platform may be used for research purposes. Please refer to the EULA for details on we use this data and whether this applies to your institution's use of MyDesign®.

Do you have Cyber insurance?

Engineering For Us All (e4usa) does not currently maintain a cyber insurance policy.
